LOCATION: Maiungo, KENYA
YEAR: 2010
A small hotel on the Kenyan coast that needed a speedy and total restyling, at the same time keeping its unique
charm.
Thus, in agreement with the client, I was able to intervene twofold in this project that was useful not only for its purpose, that of accommodation, but also to support a group of creative fishermen from Lamu – ALI LAMU. Their part in the project was decorating old sails which made sure that the hotel acquired a completely unique and innovative atmosphere to behold.
The large sails stretched out over the terraces and swelled with the wind and contrasted the turquoise of the ocean. It evoked a feeling of memory for the times of navigation past lived, as if they were fabrics of lives of the fishermen and the decorations, symbols and words had captured their deep and joyful spirit.
